The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan honors the Sudanese Writers Union

Khartoum, December 11, 2017.

The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan awarded the Sudanese Writers Union (SWU) the medal for Champions of Human Rights 2017, in recognition of the Union’s efforts to defend human rights, freedom of expression and its role in promoting the concept of diversity within a framework of unity, in addition to the SWU’s defense of the rights of cultural groups in particular youth and women and its role in promoting the values and principles of unity, peace, democracy and tolerance. The Sudanese Writers Union was founded in 1985. The award was presented by the head of the Delegation of the European Union to Sudan Ambassador Jean-Michel Dumond in the presence of a number of civil society leaders and cultural actors. The event took place at the headquarters of the European Union in Khartoum.

منح الاتحاد الاوربي في السودان اتحاد الكتاب السودانيين ميدالية أبطال حقوق الإنسان لعام 2017، الاتحاد الكتاب السودانيين تأسس في عام 1985. وذلك لجهود اتحاد الكتاب في الدفاع عن حقوق الإنسان وعن حرية التعبير ودوره في تعزز مفهوم التنوع في إطار الوحدة، والدفاع عن حق جميع المجموعات الثقافية، لا سيما الكتاب الشباب والنساء، ودوره في تعزيز قيم ومبادئ الوحدة والسلام والديمقراطية والتسامح. ويدافع الاتحاد عن حق جميع المجموعات الثقافية، واللغات المحلية في النمو والازدهار. فهو يعزز قيم ومبادئ الوحدة والسلام والديمقراطية والتسامح. وقدم الجائزة رئيس بعثة الاتحاد الاوربي في السودان جان ميشيل بحضور عدد من مسؤلي المنظمات والفاعاليات الثقافية وذلك بمقر الاتحاد الاوربي في الخرطوم .
