منع جهاز الأمن الصحف من نشر أي مواد متعلقة بأزمة الوقود والإشارة لوجود مظاهرات والكتابة عن بعض السلع بصورة سالبة. وطالب جهاز الأمن في توجيه لرؤساء تحرير الصحف بعدم الكتابة في أزمة الوقود والمظاهرات والاكتفاء فقط بالتصريحات الرسمية التي تصدر من الحكومة بشأن هذه المواضيع . وقالت شبكة الصحفيين السودانيين في بيان لها امس ان جهاز الامن وفي مواصلة لحجب المعلومات عن الرأي العام، منع مساء الاثنين الصحف من تناول أزمة الوقود الطاحنة التي تحيط بالبلاد منذ فترة، وان هذا التوجيه جاء في إطار سلسلة من منع الصحافة السودانية من تناول أزمات البلاد. وعبرت الشبكة في بيانها عن القلق بشأن الانتهاكات الممنهجة والمستمرة من قبل جهاز الأمن.

National Security Intelligence bans the press from publishing any article about the fuel shortage riots

The heads of all the media houses in the country were summoned by the national security intelligence and were ordered to stop both publishing and broadcasting of any articles about the ongoing riots in the country over the hyperinflation of prices of food and other basic needs; as well as the shortage of fuel which had made the livelihood of the Sudanese people very difficult. This is because their wages and salaries are not enough to cover their daily needs with rising food prices and the shortage of fuel, has made movements of both people and commodities paralyzed.
The security intelligence then ordered them to only publish what the government was doing to curb down the inflation so that the government would not be held responsible by any of the international bodies for the violation of human rights. If they failed to abide by this ultimatum, they would face severe consequences.
This angered the Journalists’ Association because they were the voices of the people to talk about the government’s shortcomings to its people.
