طالب أهالي منطقة صواردة بالولاية الشمالية بإطلاق سراح (6) من المحبوسين من بينهم وائل حسن الناطق باسم اللجنة السداسية ورمزى عثمان ، فاخر عبدالكريم ،نادر احمد،محمد داؤود وابنه وليد محمد داؤود، ، الذين احتجزتهم السلطات الأمنية على خلفية مقاومتهم لعمل مصنع لمعالجة الذهب باستعمال مادة السيانيد. فيما رفض أهالي قرى منطقة صواردة مد المصنع بالمياه؛ لأنهم لا يرغبون أن يعمل المصنع بالمنطقة بسبب تأثيراته البيئية. وأشارت اللجنة إلى محاولة قام بها مدير المصنع عماد عبد الله لمد المصنع بالمياه كانت سبباً في تجدد الاشتباكات بين إدارة المصنع والأهالي، الذين منعوا توصيل المياه اللازمة لعمل المصنع.
وقالت اللجنة "إن السكرتير الاعلامي باللجنة السداسية أصيب بكسر في (الترقوة) في أثناء اشتباكه مع مدير المصنع، وإن الشرطة احتجزته مع آخرين على خلفية هذه الأحداث.

The people of Asawarda demand the government release their arrested people

The residents of Asawarda demanded the release of the people arrested after the protest against the establishment of a gold refining factory in their town. They were rioting because they did not want the chemicals that were used to refine the gold to be emitted into their environment as it was harmful to their health. The protest turned violent when the members of the town attacked the factory owner, leaving one of the locals with a broken collar bone, which led to the arrest of some of the members.
Some of those that were arrested were; Fakher Abdul-Karim, Ramzi Osman, Nadir Ahmad, Muhammad Daud, Walid Muhammad Daud and Wa-eel Muhammad who was the president of the association against the factory establishment.
The protesters had even cut off the water supply to the factory plant despite the owner’s efforts of trying to extent it there.
